Gentle Sleep Coach Certification
Listed as one of Kim West’s Certified Gentle Sleep Coaches in Arizona (2011)
The Gentle Sleep Coach Certification is the first and most extensive professional sleep coaching certification program available, provided by Kim West, LCSW-C (a.k.a. “the Sleep Lady”) who has been helping tired parents for over seventeen years. Course topics include, but not limited to:

  • Basic counseling and child development
  • Sleep science and behavioral modification techniques
  • Secure attachment theory
  • Support for the breastfeeding mother
  • Postpartum depression
  • Medical conditions and sleep apnea in children
  • Sensory processing disorders and sleep

4-5 Month-old Program

Exclusive advanced 40-hour training series centered around how to gently work with babies 4-5 months of age. Course topics include, but not limited to:

  • In depth knowledge of infants under 6 months-old
  • How to evaluate the 4-6 month-old child and family
  • Developmentally appropriate gentle sleep solutions and strategies  

Independent Mentorship

  • Tutelage with Andrea Strang of KindersleepThe Child Sleep Institute and the in-home sleep support training program.
  • Andrea has over 15 years experience with sleep coaching and is a well-sought after coach and sleep coaching educator in Canada.

Foundation Program Graduate of The Wonder Weeks Academy

Provides an in-depth understanding of the infant mind development and readiness for sleep coaching. Course topics include, but not limited to:

  • Early neurodevelopment from womb to cradle
  • The importance of early relationships
  • The language of babies
  • The science behind the wonder weeks
  • All critical mental developmental phases of infants

Infant Mental Health

Infant Mental Health Community Training Institute

This 15-part, 45-hour training program aims to raise awareness and understanding of the needs of infants and toddlers in order to promote healthy social emotional development in the early years and reduce the likelihood of poor mental and physical health outcomes in the later years. Course topics include, but not limited to:

  • Understanding how critical early mental health is for a child, a community, and society at large
  • Understanding of risk and protective factors that contribute to early mental health and development
  • Promotion of infant mental health practices within a community agency
  • Integration of practices that focus on the prevention of infant mental health trauma
  • Embedding of screening practices
  • Integration of interventions  

Babies In Mind: Why The Parent’s Mind Matters

This online course explores how the mind of the parent influences the developing mind of the child, from conception through infancy and into later life. Course topics include, but not limited to:

  • Long-term impact of the absence of an early relationship on all aspects of their later functioning
  • Aspects of caregiver relationship that are important for infant’s developing mind
  • How the attachment relationship is influenced as a result of the way in which the parent’s emotional and cognitive mind shapes that interaction
  • Impact of parent’s mind on foetal development and long-term consequences of adversity during pregnancy
  • Dyadic and non-dyadic methods to support parents during the perinatal period
